The Bacolod Foodie Scene (Part 2)

Last October 2012, I once again, had the opportunity to visit my province. This was my second time for the year. I wanted to visit my lola and while already there, maximize my stay! Yahoo!

For my first time, I made a quick rundown of the gastro feast that I had for that trip. June 2012 Bacolod Foodie Scene was all about good food, even the simplest ones.

For my October trip, here are my delights:

Address: Central Walk Robinson, Mandalagan,Bacolod City
All-time fave Pad Thai for P200! Their version is one that I liked and the serving size was more than enough for me and my cousin
Bottomless Lemon Iced Tea for only P60. Such a winner! I was so thirsty and this definitely  helped relieve my parched throat. The sweetness provided me the sugar to keep me energetic all throughout the night that I was busy walking the jampacked street of Lacson for the last night of the Masskara Festival
Fish and Mango Salad for P150.  Surprisingly refreshing to the palate. The sourness balances the other ingredients such as the battered fish cutlets, peanuts, etc. It's a must-try!
Thai Spring Rolls. Very crispy but tastes ver ordinary. Ordinary but good.

Cozy ambiance inside. Green and red colors are preferred in their color scheme.
It was a good dining experience.  Glad to have tried you out.
Address:  Ground Floor, Lourdes-C Bldg., 14th Lacson Street, Bacolod City
CAKE #1. Unfortunately, I was not able to get the names of the cakes but This was good. =)
CAKE #2.  Subtle and simple if you are after cake traits like this.
CAKE #3. Yummmmmm!!!
Aside from their bestselling cakes, they also have a variety of food choices to compliment their cakes.  We also got a generous serving of their Clubhouse Sandwich and Pasta Puttanesca. Price range? Very reasonable.
Address: (Near SM Bacolod..I forgot the location)
Bongbong's! My all-time favorite pasalubong house. It just doesn't feel right for me to buy others. For me, this is just THE one! And my most-ordered pasalubong..their Piaya.  It is a flat unleavened bread filled with mozcovado (raw) sugar. Childhood memories are filled with my lunch box with 2-3pcs of Piaya inside.
So this is how it's done...
Address: Kamunsil St.corner C.L. Montelibano Avenue, 6100 Bacolod City
Grilled Buffalo Wings. A certain kick of spiciness builds the flavor for this appetizer/viand.
Golden-fried Cumin Calamares
Garlic Cream Dory. This was my order and I liked it. I like creaminess in almost any dish and this one just whetted my appetite for more. Its simple yet I don't know how to prepare the same at home. Haha! How I wish I knew how.
Grilled Pork Teriyaki
Grill Guru Pork Belly. This was not my order but I also loved this.
My kind relatives who were responsible for this treat. Next time, it's going to be on my tab, ok?! So much thanks!  I loved this experience.
This, I guess, was a home of somebody then converted it to what it is right now.  This place can hold functions  outdoors and it has a pool too.
But of course, home-cooked meals are the best! =)
My lola Remy never fails to show her love to me even if she's not the ones who personally attends to it.  Take this for example, she knew what I liked eating and she had this Beef Steak made for me. Just for me. Love you, lola!
This was tops for me. I finished this all! I really missed this. She instructed  teh person who cooked it on how it has to be done, her style. So that was why, even if it was not lola who prepared it, I can still taste and feel that it was her who did this for me. =)
My relatives (same relatives who treated me to Grill Guru) who are gifted in cooking invited me to have dinner at their home. I did not refuse, I came, of course, after all, my brother raved about their cooking all the time when he stayed in Bacolod.  And look what they whipped up in such short notice (chicken excluded as it was store bought, haha!) But our Korean-inspired dinner was so good that I took home some of it. Now I'm craving for it.
There it is! So pretty! Until next time!
Well, Bacolod never fails to impress, right? It's a foodie's haven. It's a melting pot of sorts based from the different cuisines that I have tried here.

On my next visit, it will be a different set of places again. Watch for it! =)

  1. I heard so much about Calea making me want to visit this place asap. That Thai Restaurant has reasonable prices so I will surely check this out too.

  2. You're giving me more reasons to go back. I seriously want to revisit Bacolod. :) Re: Calea, I think that they should put labels on their cakes so we'll know the names of the cakes we're eating. Last time I went there, I had to ask the staff lots of times for the cake names.

  3. Love the seafood! Craving right now. :(

  4. fish and mango is the best! looks good too! xx
